22#'s is fairly normal for a A4 with the stock thermostat. My '98 would drop to 20-25#'s in traffic. My '99 sits around 40#'s and has never dropped below 37#'s even in traffic but that is with a 160*...

I have the molly rings as well. I wonder if you have a cracked ring somehow? Somethings just not right for it to use 1qt every 130 miles.

Piston slap is normal for an aluminum engine. I have yet to hear of a problem with an LS1 due to piston slap.

That's way too much! I had mine re-built by Mike Norris and have put almost 5,000 miles on the motor as of now and I have no oil consumption whatsoever. It never used any even when it was "breaking...

Thats very good! mine is usually around 37-40 depending on the temp. as long as you're not going over 80 psi I wouldn't worry about it, 60-70 psi is good, but too much can be bad, but it's rare that...

If it's ticking, it's not the gas causing it! if it was bad gas it would cause it to ping in the high rpm's, it may be piston slap? does it go away? how loud is it? I would not recommend octane...

Colder is better! I'm speaking from track experience here guys, I have 54,000 miles on my LS1 and it has had a 160* thermostat since it was almost new! it runs about 178* according to GMtech2...

My '98 T/A's battery lasted 4 years and so did my '99 SS's but if your '97 has the origional batery more than likley it's toast!
