My Midyear daily driver's in the 70s were driven on sunny days all the time in Wash.DC winters. Hat, Coat and heat on high.

If you pull the cover off the top of the 68 seat you should be able to drill and install 2 rivet-nuts instead looking for a 69 seat back frame

Looks like someone brushed some kind of protective paint on it then sprayed satin black paint over it. If it has rosette rivets I would not worry about it.

In 77 I paid $2100 for a 64 coupe with a/c ,ps pb only needed new hubcaps because the ins co would not buy the 3rd set that was stolen. I drove that cars for many years.

V them out and fill with resin and 1/16 ground glass from fibreglast mixed into a paste, if you square the corners they will always crack they need about a 3/16 radius.
