I know it's been awhile, but I wanted to add a final update to this thread. Took awile to deal with because my schedule has been nuts.

The battery was DEAD. I couldn't rechage it by any means....

Thanks for the inputs. :D I've actually had it jumpered to one of my other cars (running) for over 10 minutes, and still couldn't get anything but that 'click-click'. I'll buy an Optima if I can't...

I have to commute past a county fuel depot. Lots of school buses with the strobe light on top. That's what set off the 8500. A bus was nearby...
