Re: C4 Brake Ducting, part deux (gcrouse)

On my '89 I removed the turn/driving light assys, cut the lenses off in front of the driving lights, removed the driving light bulbs and reflectors, and cut a big hole (almost 3") in the back of the...

Re: Wilwood SL6R caliper 7420 pad and spacers?????????????????????? (John Shiels)

Ordered them with Thermlock pistons and therefore have no 'before and after' comparison. I wanted every advantage I could get and saw no reason not to get them.

Re: Wilwood SL6R caliper 7420 pad and spacers?????????????????????? (h rocks)

Was 4-piston radial mount B-type calipers, PFC 7700 series pads, OEM 13" x 1.100" rotors.

New setup is Wilwood GN-III calipers (w/ Thermlock pistons) and 13" x 1.375" rotors.

Re: Wilwood SL6R caliper 7420 pad and spacers?????????????????????? (John Shiels)

You mean the Brake Pad Thermal Heat Shield, #CR-PAD SHLD-L 3"x6" shields? Nope, no idea what you're talking about...... :D

Yup, used those too. Now that I've upgraded to a full blown 4-wheel...

Re: Wilwood SL6R caliper 7420 pad and spacers?????????????????????? (John Shiels)

I had some Ti spacers made for some Alcon calipers I was using once. As hrocks mentioned, I think waterjet cutting would be a good idea. The company that made mine sheared them from sheet stock and...

Survey says............"p-r-o-p-o-r-t-i-o-n-i-n-g v-a-l-v-e"!!!! :smash:

Ok, so I received the new replacement MC that DRM sent me and I bench bled the heck out of it (omitting details). ...

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (mvitacco)

No, what I'm saying is that the 1.02" bore IS what DRM supplied with their kit (Camaro MC). My original was .920".

I'm not going to disassemble the MC just to look inside, nor am I willing to...

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (mvitacco)

Mvitacco, here are some numbers for you (and Mr. Melton). If my math is correct:

OEM total piston area for all calipers, front and rear = 14.2 square inches
Wilwood total piston area for all...

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (h rocks)

Actually, the dark grey one also has the fittings on the wrong side for a C4 (at least for an '89, don't know for sure about other years). Maybe the MC pictured is just be for a C5.

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (h rocks)

'89, full DRM system (GN III's front, SL4's rear, Camaro MC), Wilwood knob style prop valve mounted inside driver's compartment, dash level. I can't imagine the location of the prop valve would make...

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (h rocks)

I don't mind removing the master to 'bench bleed' it. I've pushed almost half a liter of fluid through the system, first with the F/R tubing nuts a bit loose at the master cylinder, to push the air...

Re: Bigger master cylinder???????????????????? (C5stein)

C5stein, what's involved in "bench bleeding" the master cylinder? Is the technique the same for all types of late model GM master cylinders?

I just installed the DRM Camaro master on...

Re: How/where to tie down a C4 for transport? (Bill Dearborn)

Anyone ever use "J-hooks", "T-hooks", or "R-hooks" ('R' are supposedly designed for GM cars).

Re: How/where to tie down a C4 for transport? (Bill Dearborn)

Thanks Bill. I've seen the rear factory tie down 'slots' but unfortuantely they're somewhat obstructed by my rear brake air ducts. I'll wait to see if there are other ideas for the rear. I suppose...

Re: [CA] WTB: Open car trailer, preferably near Southern California (rhanselman)

Rhanselman, thanks for the offer. Is the 19' the bed length or overall length? I'm in Southern CA so I'm not sure how that works into your travel plans or if you're coming to CA. From your sig it...

[CA] WTB: Open car trailer, preferably near Southern California

Hi all. I'm looking for a new or used open car trailer (prefer open center over full deck) to haul a lowered C4. I think 16' would do, 18' absolute max deck length. If anyone has one for sale, or...
