New C8 is smaller (shorter), right? Then why must it weigh 3400 pounds (per GM specs I believe).

I wouldn't put the old heads back on without having a local machine shop look them over. If they have any mileage on them at all, a fresh 3-angle valve job with new seals costs very little at most...

If you are wealthy, or plan to ditch your Mag-ride C7 before the warranty is out, go ahead and get it. But replacing those units due to mileage/wear or failure is not going to be cheap.
