Per n8dogg's advice, I unplugged the MAF and drove the car... The "active handling warming up" message comes on and stays on as well as the active handling light on the dash. I warmed the car up...

The car was delivered to the original owner in April of 2001 so I think it was one of the earlier models that had the ring problem and I don't think it was repaired. I didn't realize this issue...
