They DO work on a C5 as I used one on mine last year at the local battery shop. I'd unhooked the battery over the winter and, yes, just radio presets were lost. No presets were lost at the battery...

I had the same experience. It was soooo easy just to sand the paint off the letters the next day (I left the wheels off overnight) with some 220 grit and a small block of wood.
