Hey James, I was your student in the red vett. A trans cooler is a must. A Chuck Cow tune will help with temps. and shift. A lot of this will depend on how you drive the car and what track you are on.

Be sure to watch your tranny temps, if it gets around 280 290 the computer will take over and shift for you. This can cause real problems. Ask me how I know???
