For those who may be interested, I got a brief update on the Hawk.....

I got a call from my mechanic tonight when I got home from work. He said he let the car run outside of his shop for a few minutes to charge the battery and get the fluids flowing... he said they...

Re: Aluminum Flywheel: Pros & Cons? (Dr. Doom)

I've heard that aluminum flywheels are better for road racing because they reduce rotating mass and allow the revs to go up and down faster and steel flywheels are better for drag racing because the...

Re: How do you remove the 2 small bolts on LT1 coil?

I recently put an MSD Blaster coil on my LT1 Hawk, once I took the coil out of the car I just smacked the rivets a few times with a hammer and chisel and they broke right off.

You can drill them...

Re: Is there a way to "test" an Optispark?? (EricVonHa)

Yeah, in fact the guy just called me. He said the car has "a butt-load of timing"... He said as much timing as it is running it should be throwing a code but isn't so he thinks the PCM might be bad....

Re: Is there a way to "test" an Optispark?? (bogus)

I wasn't aware of the difference between '94 and '95-up optis when I did the LT4 conversion or I would have upgraded to a vented unit. I still have the non-vented unit in my Hawk.

Re: Is there a way to "test" an Optispark?? (bogus)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a code 16 a misfire?? If so, that code could be thrown by things other than a bad opti.

Re: I know it don't belong here...but anybody got an airfoil for sale?....my bro wants one...

I was told that an airfoil doesn't do any good unless you're pushing over 500hp... and hopefully by that time you would be using a larger aftermarket TB that doesn't require a separate airfoil.

Is there a way to "test" an Optispark??

I was told the only way to see if it is bad is to install a new one. I have a hard time believing there isn't a way to test an electrical part.

Re: [RANT] Picked my Firehawk up from County Corvette today....

Re: [RANT] Picked my Firehawk up from County Corvette today.... (TravisD)

I had the parameters on the PCM checked and they are ok but I guess it could still be bad. I think it's either the PCM, MAF or Opti myself but don't have any equipment to check them. Might be time...

Re: [RANT] Picked my Firehawk up from County Corvette today.... (EricVonHa)

I think you're right... I had a feeling it was either fuel or electrical and the entire fuel system has either been replaced or checked out ok. I think it's going to be something really stupid like...

Re: Is the old synthetic myth correct? (Keith95Coupe)

Some new cars (inlcuding the C5 and 911) come with synthetic from the factory... no need to break a new motor in on dino oil.

The changes I'd suggest:
