Do you have the cancelling cam on the back of the steering wheel hub?
That's what is supposed to center the upper bearing and keep it retained in the turn signal switch.

It looks like you could also drill a small hole in the pie pan/Corvette sign and install a quartz clock kit behind it.

Amazing work, I wish I could do things like that.

Hey at least you had screws and tape holding yours in, mine has a large rectangular brick of foam holding the heater outlet in position.

Somebody in the past must have just ripped the outlet off...
