yes, ideally he would be able to put 370s into the 411 case and none would be the wiser, however the case can only fit 8.2” ring gear which is a 411 or 456 factory gear
He cannot find 8.2” 370s

He would actually want 3.70s but cannot find them with an 8.2" ring gear to fit the 4.11 case?
Does anyone know if anyone makes aftermarket gears that would fit?

Complete C1 rear with 411:1

My buddy is restoring a matching numbers, correct '61 Vette. It has 4.56:1 gears in it now
but the case is marked for 4.!!s. He has found cases, gear, and post units but he has 8.2 gears
and cannot...

Replaced the base gasket, it was wet when i got it off, not the problem.
Going to pull off rear bowl and replace gasket, what else could cause a vacuum leak in that area...no visible cracks.

If pedal is pumped once, it will start but stalls immediately.

I only wish you were right, but there is no crack in any of the hoses. Unfortunately the problem still exist, I’m taking the diaphragm apart now.
