Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (66427-450)

The average maint. condition of the midyear cars and the level of appreciation of the cars themselves is just plain irrelevant. Is some greater good served here by the fleet being in better...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (Larry P)

"It only hurts the guys that don't already have one and don't know how to build one"

Well there it is right in print and not off my keyboad. YES it does hurt those who don't already have one but...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (ctjackster)

If someone I knew paid $200,000 for a car I though was worth a lot less I would tell him what I thought. I would not cheer him on unless I thought that what he did merited cheering. The buyers...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (Disco Stu)

No Stu that is not what I am saying.

I said I understand the economic survivalism or survival of the fittest (flushist?) BUT.....these ultra rare cars set the prices for the others. Already today...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (427 Mitch)

You have the right to your opinion and I have the right to mine. In my opinion these prices are NUTS. My feeling is and will continue to be that the hobby is overheated with this stuff. The issue is...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (Daren Schneider)

So let's see here the chump that paid $195 REALLY paid $195K X 1.08 so lets just round up...8% of $200K is 16K so the car out of pocket was really closer to $210K and Jackson made $32K on that car...

Re: Did the 66' 427 offer Tripower??? (vetsvette2002)

I am not so sure about that statement he is just a writer. A friend of mine owns an auto repair business in Northwestern Connecticut. Yates lived up there or a while some time ago. He (Yates)...

Re: I CANNOT WATCH BARRET JACKSON (Daren Schneider)

I cannot stand it eather. My reasons are also selfish. All the hype and hoopla about the cars drives the prices thru the roof. Now every swinging dick who has a 435 HP roadster, or a BB midyear...

Re: Did the 66' 427 offer Tripower??? (Kid_Again)

I see this stuff and shake my head. People in the sport / hobby are looking for correct dated diodes for their alternators and others get hosed on 66 numbers matching 3x2 cars. WTF? Doesn't it seem...

Re: Need Advice on a '67 Vert Please (7vettes)

There it is sky high prices! If people will pay it people will take the money. If people with more sense than money just...

Re: Dumb Question #12283 - degreeing a cam (Allcoupedup)

I never understood the necessity for this eather. MILLIONS I MEAN FREAKIN MILLIONS of stock engines are put together without doing this and run just fine.

The process does assure that the cam...

Re: Detroit Auto Show and the future of the industry. (Kid_Again)

Kid

last summer I looked very seriously at a 4 Runner (a TOYOTA 4 Runner). Amid cut throat discounting of all kinds from Gm and FOrd the Toyota guys had a slight "discount". It was clear that...

Re: How to put a '97 LT1 in a '67 Vette? Any help? Ideas? Advice? (67 LT1)

Do what you want it is your car. I think it will make a great project and the finsihed car would be a great driver. Very nice combo of nostalgia and modern convenience. I think the biggest issue...

Re: Detroit Auto Show and New Model thoughts (Vette60)

Well for the record I am a Boomer.

This last week we on the forum have lamented the demise of pop up headlights, the destruction of the facility where the 54 Vettes were build and the destruction...

Re: Rear Posi Overhaul - Fair Price? (78Vette-SA)

Honesly I would be more worried about the quality of the work. Price always is important and this is top dollar even considering the new parts. If they do it right and the thing is quiet then I...

Re: Rear Posi Overhaul - Fair Price? (78Vette-SA)

Sounds high to me but you have not told the whole story.

Are you bringing the rear end center section into the shop and re-installing it in the car yourself? After they redo the posi clutch...

Re: Detroit Auto Show and the future of the industry. (mogulmike)

Re: Dead Pig's In An 87 Corvette.."Mythbusters" TV Show.. (67ratrag)

I, like you, could care less if I sold my car and they crushed it in front of my...

Re: Dead Pig's In An 87 Corvette.."Mythbusters" TV Show.. (65tripleblack)

I hardly feel superior because I own a 66. I honestly and seriously don't understand this. I don't understand this pig thing anymore than I understand the term "caretaker" that floated around for...
