Remove the glove box and center console bulbs. See if one of those is staying on.

Check to see if your brake lights are staying on. It should be obvious if there were, but worth a check.

The regulator is supported by its own bracket...

The regulator is supported by its own bracket bolted to the manifold. The tubing adds extra stability but is not the main support.

Shoot me any questions you might have. A few of us has done this...
