I did the work myself and adjusted the valve per manual’s instructions to center it. Nothing I saw warned about greasing the valves but now I see a few suppliers do mention not to grease the valve.

I’ve had a few shakes over the years. Usually a tire balance problem but I’ve had pinion bushing go bad or come loose and of course all the U joints can do it too.

The 84 ECM is similar to the 82. If it’s running very rich but the idle is OK, it’s probably in learn mode. It takes like 50 miles on a warmed up engine before it gets a good grasp of the parameters....

Most likely the gas gauge float is hanging up on something in the tank. The manual will tell you how to pull the fuel pump assembly out and that will allow you to check the gauge float.
