We had a 77 Chevy 4x4 that had the same problem. Our solution was to buy a ford remote seloniod and mount it on the inner fender away from the exhaust heat. Never had the starting problem again.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the enlarged V in the corvette script signifies the 265 Cid V8.
Nice car just a bit above my pay grade.:D

Just a tip that I learned many moons ago when I rebuilt Chevy. Get some short length rubber gas line tubing that will fit over the connecting rod bolts. Put them on when you install the pistons ....
