The 15 x 8 with 3.75 backspacing will clear the hardware. It's just the fenders that can be a problem. Tire size is the issue.

Mine has been this way since 72 with the 15 x 8s.

Heck, I got one those pictures, not quite as bad, of the front end blown off my 64. T-boned a Datsun 510 Station at about 60 mph. No seat belt and I was not hurt at all. Corvettes are tough.:cheers:
