Re: Do All Corvettes Have Bad Factory Paint (Z06ROD)

Alot of people don't know this, but the cars are buffed in spots at the factory. I took my car home with all the plastic on it (dealer did not touch it upon my request), and I had a buff mark on the...

Re: meguairs vs zaino....?

I've used the Gold Class also, and have been thinking of trying the Zaino.

Can I just apply the Zaino over the Gold Class, or would I have to do something special to make the switch?

Also, I...

Re: ZO6 vs. GSX-R 1000 (kwillmorth)

They put a telemetry unit on the bike and Z06 and had a nice chart showing the speeds at all points along the track. The bike actually had higher cornering speeds than the Z06, which surprised me. ...

Re: Dual A/C Climate Control System/Heating (Elk)

I think there was a comment about this in the owner's video tape. The A/C is on in defrost mode because it helps dry out the air and helps make the defrost faster. If in doubt, get out the owner's...

Re: Tranny Fluid Leak (Z51 LS1)

Z51 LS1 -- I already brought the oil level down to where it should be (bottom of fill hole when car is level), but it looks like it's still seeping. Someone suggested checking all the main bolts on...

Re: Oil/Filter Change # of Quarts Poll (Mark S.)

This whole issue is getting confusing. Here's some questions that need to be verified to make any definate conclusions.

1) Did 97 to 00 C5s take exactly 6.5 qts to get "Full" on the dipstick? --...

Re: If my Z06 "skip shifts" one more time...I'm driving it in a freaking LAKE! (plassti)

The skip shift only works in a VERY narrow range of conditions. It only engages if you start in 1st gear from a DEAD STOP (it will not engage if you shift into 1st while rolling and do not stop). ...

Re: Poll: 2002 oil burners manual trans only?

I had a 2001 Vette. By 1000 miles it burned 1/2 qt. I now have a 2002 Z06, and it has not burned ANY oil in 1000 miles. IMO, by 1000 miles, you will be able to tell if it's an oil burner or not. ...

Re: Oil/Filter Change # of Quarts Poll (Mark S.)

Old wive's tale ..... :D:D:D.

Overfilling the crankcase with oil has NO EFFECT on the oil seals -- only the oil frothing issue.

I remember another forum post sometime ago where the poster...

Re: 6 Speed Tranny Fluid Leak (gonbad)

gonbad -- thanks for the input!

Couple of questions for you:
1) Can over filling actually cause this? Seems unlikely, but I will try it first since it can't hurt at this point.

2) When they...

6 Speed Tranny Fluid Leak

I was under my new EB Z last weekend snooping around and see a couple of drops of red fluid hanging off the front end of the tranny. I see that there is a small vent hole located at bottom of the...

Re: Warning: bad oil pump (imp zog)

imp zog -- glad to hear they fixed you up OK. Did the dealer say anything about if this was an 01 only problem? If GM knew about it for awhile, then I'm thinking the 02s had this fix going into...

Re: First Oil Change Today! (Mark S.)

Has anyone determined if the dipstick/tube was changed again for the 2002 models or not?

If they have not, then I find it "fishy" that the cars come from the factory with the oil level right upto...

Re: Z06 Intoxication (BIG LAW MAN)

The term "orange peel" refers to the smoothness of the paint surface. If the painted surface has a bad case of "orange peel", then when looked at from certain angles, the surface looks rough, like...

Re: Z06 Intoxication (JasonB)

Sorry to hear your EBs paint wasn't very good. I picked up my EB two weeks ago, and I think it's paint job is as good as they get on the Vettes. All the horizontal surfaces (roof, hood, trunk lid,...

Re: First Oil Change Today! (Mark S.)

I picked up my brand new Z06 two weeks ago. The dealership did not add any oil to the engine during the PDI, and the oil level read exactly at the "FULL" mark on the dipstick from the factory.

Try this link on Z06Vette.com

Also, your dealer should be able to get information about your car's process.

Re: Whe will it be too much? View of future Horsepower (Pio)

Hell, on the street I think 405 HP in the 2002 Z is plenty for me. At some point, alot more HP than this will not really be that usable on the street unless your into steet racing and doing smoke...

Re: 305's or wider on rear? (TRF)

I think 305/35-18 will fit, and have about the same overall diameter as the 295/35s (only 0.25 inch more). I have not tried it personally. They would be ~1/2 inch wider total, and would stick out...
