I have a 2008 with Z51 and it's a daily driver. The suspension is firm but not annoying or rough or anything negative. Handling is superb. With Z51, it's a great car made better.

I spent $20 at Home Depot and made my own...

I spent $20 at Home Depot and made my own "Kilmat." 1/2 inch styrofoam and some foil-lined bubble wrap to block heat and sound. Definitely worth the money.

Change the fluid using the correct GM part number...

Change the fluid using the correct GM part number (easy to find on this forum -- no substitutions -- I tried that). This fixes the problem for most folks, including me.

I would not bother jacking the rear. The amount of additional oil you will get out of the pan is probably not worth the effort.

You will have some access under the car for cleaning when you raise...

OK, I just returned from a 2000+ mile trip over 4 days.

Z51 is smooth, not harsh, but don't expect any Corvette to ride like a Cadillac.
