if its similar to the cruise vacuum line that goes into the firewall the answer is both. I had to pull the plug out yesterday and then I was able to pull new 7/32 vacuum line through the hole in it....

That is huge for me - I need to find out why mine is not clicking on.... The small vacuum line seems fine it will attach to my finger when the car is running. Guess I need to work on the power on...
