The vent hole is actually there to vent the heat...

The vent hole is actually there to vent the heat off the bearings and the shaft.Sounds like your pump is going south .Gm hiper aluminum is a good choice

Can someone give me a source under the hood for a key on to wire the electric choke .If memory serves me right you can use the yellow wire on the wiper motor .Thanks

i hear ya on the knees in the steering column.A cheap fix for now may be to change to a 79=82 steering wheel.They are smaller in diameter and may help untill you can locate a tilt tele .
