C7 overheating--How to get the fan to run

My C7 was stuck in stop and go traffic for 2 hours. Temp gauge went up to 240. I pulled over but the fan shut off shortly after the engine was shut off. Is there a way to make the fan keep running...

I have the same thing happenb when i get a phone call. WAZE and the phone both compete for attention thru the car speakers. Probably a phone software thing.
