Heads and camshaft are always key to making power but if you don't touch the intake/exhaust you will be limiting yourself.
You should think about porting the plenum, intake, get some larger runners...

I never thought of my '85 as a low mileage car but after seeing this post I guess it is. Just turned 159,000 km which works out to 98,800 miles. Sounds like it should have a few more miles left.
