True. It's a variant of the Borg Warner Super T-10. And unlike other 4 speed shifters, the Corvette shifter is body mounted. All the old 4 speeds I've seen were mounted to the transmission.

I will add: Once you get it solidly in the air, make sure the transmission is in neutral. If the trans is in gear/park that can hold against a worn U-joint and make it hard to find a loose/bad one....

You doing almost exactly what I did several years back on my '86. although I skipped the core, and condensor change. Your procedure seems sound. I think I let the system hold vacuum for a day or so....
