Re: After 11 months away, the '65 came home today (Boogieman65)

You guys have been great! I think I'll maybe keep it in the garage and drive once in a while until I absolutely need an extra $35K or so.

It is such a great mid year. I've seen and driven many...

Re: Very Fast Big Block (66427-450)

Here's the trick to the L88-- these engines were designed to be run off-road. They came with manifolds, but that's just not compatible with the cam timing of an L88 or ZL1.

With manifolds...

Re: After 11 months away, the '65 came home today (magicv8)

The car is in CA now....has been for a few years. I bought it in Georgia. The mags are reproduction TTD's (which did not clear disc brakes and had to be modified...pita!).

Re: Very Fast Big Block (LT1driver)

Not sure if you're on the side of a 120 something mph trap out of a stock BB. Either way, that's amazing considering the fastest ever documented L88 trap with stock manifolds was 107 mph. You...

Re: After 11 months away, the '65 came home today (paul67)

Hmmmm, I'm torn really. I just wish this was a NOM ZZ with a nice paint job.....then I'd keep it and drive it.

What most of you don't know is I'm only in my early 30's, and have lots of...

After 11 months away, the '65 came home today

Well, I can't beleive it's been gone 11 months. When I dropped it off for a repaint and new seats, I figured 3-4 months.

It was black Emron. It's now the original Glen Green. I must say, it...

Re: Very Fast Big Block (66BBCoupe)

I should probably leave this one alone.....but I can't resist.

No offense but no C2 or C3 Corvette in ANYTHING remotely close to "stock" config. traps that high....except maybe in a 1/2 mile. ...

Re: New zz 383 vs zz4 (newbe60)

components can handle all the horsepower in the worl. It's torque that can break stuff. Unless you're running slicks and launching at the strip, you should have no problem. Trouble only occurs...

Re: 327/350 rebuild (mymaur)

Okay, first I had my 327 rubuilt a couple years ago. My goal was 400 hp with manifolds and reasonable vac. I spent over $4500.00 AND had some head work done. I used a comp cam XE268 with 2.02/1.6...

Re: 3 Tail Light History on C1 and C2's (Lickitty)

It's my understanding that none ever rolled off the assembly line that way. My 'vette is still at shop being restored (paint's done and looks killer, now they just have to reupholster the...

Re: Can it run too cold? (oprahrider)

somebody beat me to it, but dude YOU'RE DESTROYING YOU ENGINE WITH THE WATER THAT COLD!!!!! Warem it up. Running the water at 160 will probably wear the iron cylinder walls 2-4 times faster than...

Re: Horsepower Sells (drpimento)

I own a NA 4.6 mod motor 'Stang and have seen the '03 Cobra on the dyno. They dyno about 360-369 at the rear wheels (stick) which equates to roughtly 424 hp at the f.w. If only they weren't 3650...

Re: Horsepower Sells (Solid327)

I don't think HP #'s are off by too much these days. Certainly not like the late '60's and early '70's.

Exceptions would be the '03 Mustang Cobra rated at 390 hp but actual is 425. Also the...

Re: Camshaft Question? (vettes1st)

Ahhhhh, the age old "lope with torque" equation.....

if you want sound with low-end torque, you need to sacrifice overlap (LSA 112+) overally duration. I'd go with 118 degree range @.050 on a...

Re: Hesitation and carb. pop (Q1KSLVR)

Have you recently had some timing and/or carb work done? Most likely you're lean due to a pump, power valve or else work has been done to lean it out and/or retard the timing. I'm pretty sure it's...

Re: Intermittant High Idle Speed CARTER 3721SB (Boatingdobbins)

In order of most obvoious to least:

1) shaft is sticking leaving the primary plate slightly open
2) vacuum leak
3) linkage is catching on the high idle cam
4) (this happened to me): very lean...

Re: Paint Job - estimated cost? (Knunov)

I'm getting mine back in about another month. Total cost $12,000! Of course there was a little extra labor involved because the old paint was Imron (very, very hard to remove).

If you want it...

Re: What's the most HP possible from a 327? (A C)

L79, sorry, I haven't checked back in a few. The 383 hp was on an engine dyno; so, that's actual crank hp. It's in the neighborhood of 325 at the rear wheel (I'm not posi). The compression is...

Re: How much tq can the M20 handle? (Maximillian)

The motor is already built. I'm buying it from a friend who was planning on using it in a speed boat (so the block is proctically concerete).

I've been told that most transmissions will hold...

How much tq can the M20 handle?

I'm purchasing another stingray. It's a '67 with no motor. I plan on buying a crate 454 (450 hp / 450 tq). The transmission is stock M20. I do not plan on hard launching with slicks, just street...

Re: What's the most HP possible from a 327? (L79vette)

I don't have the dyno sheet. It was a chasis dyno after the build.

As for the blueprint, I do have that but it'd be a pain to try and post it (I think). The engine is all stock castings (block,...

Re: What's the most HP possible from a 327? (james75)

Oh I don't know.....I wouldn't think 400-425 hp would be too tough to pull off (naturally aspirated and streetable). That would be as easy as some good head and valve work, fast ramping roller cam...
