Mileage

The odometer shows 48,000, but it has been replaced with a 160 mph speedo by a previous owner, so the actual mileage is likely higher than that.

Love my 82 DD

I've put 28K miles on my '82 X-fire since I got it on the road two years ago. The creature compforts of the '82 a much appreciated on my daily drive and the OD trans makes for pretty good gas mileage...

Having a burned out bulb in the curcuit can sometimes cause a slow or continuous indicator on the dash. Bad ground could do it as well.

Buddy,

You don't need to remove the EGR valve to check it. Just reach under the top with your fingers and manually push up on the vacuum diaphram. If it pushes up easily, its not sticking open....

If your alternator is delivering about 14v to the battery during charging, it's probably OK. If you have any doubts though, you can always pull it and have a parts place test it.

A speedo cable that needs to be lubed usually results in a bouncing needle, not failure. If bouncing is the problem lube away. If your speedo is dead, you'll need to find out what broke.
