Yes the update disc does do the trick and the head unit will play MP3 discs but those at GM Technical Assistance that told you the CD Changer would play MP3 discs look to be mistaken.

yes but cd's with burned with mp3's are equal to about 8 or 9 cd's times six is a lot better than just 6 cd's

Yep, now that the changer is in it looks just like the picture....and it plays cds fine that I have made myself but will not play the mp3 cd discs.

I had one put in today in my 05 Vert and the changer works fine but I can not get it to play mp3s. I do not get invalid disc.....it acts as if it is reading the disc and the elapsed time is moving...
