I took the choke off of mine also. All you have to do is run it for about 4 to 5 minutes and it will idle with no problem. Doesn't have to get totally warmed up.

My color combination is the same as your dad's 67. Mine came with side exhaust,teak wheel and J-50/J-56 power brakes. No AC but that would have been nice!!!
