Apples and oranges IMHO. The ride height is not determined by the shocks,(the exception is air adjustable shocks) maybe the previous owner had the front lowered? Are the shocks leaking fluid?

I replaced mine as they were needed.and the rears are not as expensive as the fronts. You should be around $350 to $450. They are not as uncommon as they once were so the price has come down somewhat.

Yes, however they are 1 mm longer than the original for the headlight covers, but they do fit. I paid about $7 for 50. I dont know what the dealer cost would be.
