Hands down one of the best carb guys in country is Lance Patton. He was John Reeds carb guy for 2 decades. I hold Lance and Dave Braswell in the same plain.

I'll be shot for this but compression doesn't factor in to camshaft duration or lift. I can manipulate Events to help but simply put a compression 454 or a low compression 454 with all things equal...

Few observations here. A 427 CID SBC has more demand on Induction and Exhaust than a 427 BBC....
