It's a closed system so the level should remain the same as when it was filled, I would suggest changing the fluid and filter more often and use a 12 volt transfer pump to speed up the process.

Does the crankshaft position sensor need spacers?

I measured the clearance to be 0.004" between the end of the new sensor and the OD of the reluctor wheel. Should there be more space between the two or doesn't it matter?
