I loosened up the radiator support to put mine in. It's a pain but well worth it. It's almost impossible to get it in without doing that.

I had a similiar problem with my steering. Turns out my oil dipstick tube was loose and the dipstick was hitting my rag joint. Could check that.

How do you guys get the bolt out to change the oil. I can't seem to get a wrench on it enough to break it. Six point socket doen't work either. Is there some special wrench or socket?

I have a 76 with a 4-speed. Put in a set of Dynmax headers with no problem at all. I don't have air so I can't help you there. Good luck! :seeya
