I'm curious about this outcome....I too have 2001 with 30000 miles, original owner pampered and maintained. Steering feels as you decribe. Have no leaks, no one has changed the power steering fluid....

Yes, most likely the case...now knowing my 01 has external filter, service rep must have confused the model year spec. If I do decide to have private shop do this work I'll personally buy the parts...

VERY slight drain oil drain plug leak?

Rather minor issue but little annoying, have very slight oil drip from drain plug. Its VERY minor, but I'm reticent to over tighten the plug.
Seems its started some years ago after dealer oil...

No, did not. As explained earlier to C5 Diag(Rob), as directed I cleared all my codes(C1214) was not one of them. Drove the car and rechecked the system....no codes!
