It sounds to me like a defective AC clutch. Probably the Coils in the clutch have an open in them. The only real problem is that is an R-12 refridgerant instead of today's cheaper R-134a. So if it is...

I had the same trouble on an F-Body. Checked it for a leaky injector. No problem there. Ended up being the check valve in the fuel pump.

Decatur group should be on I-57 at Mattoon at about 9 am or sooner on Saturday. So we might join in with you northern guys if the timing works. I don't know yet which day I'm going for certain....

The weather Saturday is supposed to be excellent. Rain tonight and Friday. With the rain my plans for the field work could change depending on how much it rains between now and then.

Decatur is 1 1/2 hrs North. Plenty of motel space. One next door to the Steak and Shake that we are caravanning from in Mt. Zion. Hawthorn Suites is the name. Then the caravan leaves at 8:00 am from...

If you are having trouble getting rooms, Decatur is less than 1 1/2 hr away and our club will caravan from here in Decatur usually both days.

I used a paint pen on mine got the same results. The tip of the paint pin goes right in the letter groove.
