bad spark plug wire, how to fix?

I have an MSD that is arching. It has a very small crack in the boot. I don't want to buy a whole new set of MSD's just to replace the one. What should I do to fix this? I tried elec tape over and over but the headers keep melting it and the arching is back within an hour or so of driving time. Autozone and Oreilly don't carry cloth heatwrap that i could put around it.

Ideas??? Anyone have an extra I could buy that would reach to cylinder 5?

Get some of those insulated heat boots that will help.

Go to a Grainger or an electrical supply house and get a roll of 3m glass cloth tape and give it a try.

If you have a bit of slack in that wire, you could replace the cracked boot- MSD has boots/contact parts for those that make their own wires. Just cut off the old one preserving as much wire length as possible.

Boots can be replaced...

You can replace the bad boot with a new one. Not sure MSD has replacements but they sell them at your favorite auto parts store. Depending on which one it is, it is do/able.

Or you could just e-mail MSD, tell them what's going on and they'll send you a new one for free I promise.

If they don't send you a new one, measure the wire length (red section), and drop me a PM... I have a used set that I took off my car a few years back, it's not going back on so I can let one of the wires go...

I only kept the set around just in case I neeed a spare wire sometime, but I've got two used sets of wires now... I don't need that many spares...

Ok, does anyone have a link to MSD's website? 3 letter acronym names are never easy to find, lol.
