F41 suspension
Does anybody know what all intails with the F41 suspention, aside from heavy duty shocks, is there other diff internal upgrades of any sort?

Stiffer springs. 550 lb/in coils up front, seven-leaf rear spring, about 300 lb/in I think.
I'm not sure about sway bars. I think they weren't any bigger. |

I'm not sure about sway bars. I think they weren't any bigger. While small block cars have shown up with rear sway bars, the consensus is that the rear sway bars was a big block suspension package and were never delivered from the factory with one. The rear sway bar was not an F41 suspension item. FE7 was first small block equipped rear suspension sway bar item. |
F41 and Gymkhana
What's the difference between F41 and Gymkhana?

Well I have all whats been listed, I just wanted to confirm that, I replaced my front coils, only because there was to much sag, but I never parted with the old coil springs. I did replace the shocks, not realizing they were F41 shocks, and chucked them out. Can you still buy F41 shocks?

The BB rear sway bar is 9/16 and helps tremendously. :yesnod:

I have F41 sways and springs on my '69. The front bar is 1 1/8" and the rear is 9/16". I also have Bilstein shocks and they are far superior to the original style F41 shocks.
The car drives great and goes around corners like crazy. Enjoy :steering: |

Hi Hunt4cleanair, I think you're correct. I was actually the one that installed the springs and sways many years ago (1983-84). I used a Chevrolet Power catalog as my reference for buying the parts from Chevy. It was a late 70's edition so it would have had the then current F41 specs in it. So I stand corrected. The car sure likes them though. :steering: |
I'm considering upping the rear sway bar in my 78. The stock FE7 7/16" rear bar isn't cutting it. :)
For ref, FE7 was 550/300 with 1 1/8" front sway and 7/16" rear sway. Not quite on topic but good to note in case people were curious. -Steve |
PacinCalifornia, Go to school on Shark Pilot on that rear bar. I've tried numerous combos and 1 1/8 front and 5/8 rear is as large as I would go unless you have very wide sticky tires.
