Gas Door Snubbers??
 

Are there supposed to be a couple of rubber snubbers for the gas door? There looks to be two small holes where they would insert but my 04 has never had any. The door can be pushed in about 1/4 inch when closed. If there are is there a part number for them?

I do not know the part number but they should be there. Take it to the stealership where you bought it and make them get you some.

I can't speak to the 04 but my '97 has two small rubber stops. They are not on the door, they are attached to the plastic Housing for the fill pipe that the gas cap screws onto. You can see them in this picture. The stops are on the right side just above and below the gas door release.

I've checked my parts CD and up thru the '01 (which is as far as my parts list goes.) there didn't seem to be a part number. For what it's worth, even with the rubber stops I can depress my closed fuel door at least a 1/4" as well. The part number for the filler housing is 10401497 (again only sure about up to '01), it might be worth verifying that this part number is the same and infact comes with the rubber stops if you don't have them. Maybe someone has one and can provide you with the two pieces.

I lost one and went to the dealer who couldn't find the part. They said it was apart of the filler tube sub-assembly and they couldn't get a part number. I ended up getting two off a salvaged panel in Carlisle.

Ok... I found a part number for you. It's 10276843 and referenced in group 3 item 54. It says it's part of 10443229. Let em know if you have any lock with the dealer....

Replace Rubber Stops
 

I had this done. They wrote it like this;

WARRANTY

Chk for gas cap door closing hard possible rubber stops missing.

Replaced the rubber stops due to strap missing.

I had the same issue and went to the local Chevy dealer.. There are two rubber stops (called bumpers) that go into the holes you describe. Cost about $7.50 for two...but are hard to get in...you need a very pointy object like an awl... I did a good job on one but just realized when washing and drying mine todat that i lost the lower one.. When I had put them in, I kind of thought the lower one wasn't in right. I should have gone with my instinct,,,,,

I have a package in my hands as I type this. The package has the same number as posted by Wontspeak:

TY 2 FP NUMBER 3547884 DESCRIPTION BUMPER-F/ 12.945

The part number is 3547884 which contains a single bumper so you'll need to order two.

In 6 years of owning my car I've never lost one. Over the last year my car spent time in three shops (a long, sad story) and each time I got it back one or both were missing.

Go to the dealership and test drive a C-5, after you get out of sight. Stop, open the gas filler door and steal the little rubber things. Who needs parts numbers. :rofl:

Wow, great find Frank. I missed that completely. Sure, it makes sense that they'd put the bumbers in a different place than the fuel housing and door :crazy: :lol:

I have had the same issue with the rubber bumpers/stops. If you frequent a car wash, check to make sure that they are intact when you leave. Showcase Chevrolet in Westminister, Ca. ordered mine and they are in but I have not had a chance to get in and pick them up yet. The card that I got from the dealer shows part no, 10276643, which is probably a misprint and should be as shown in the post above:
102768433. Mine are being replaced under warranty. I cannot say eough good about this dealer (Showcase Chevrolet) in So Cal and I cannot say enough bad about another (Cormier Chevrolet) So Cal dealer located in Carson, Ca, right off of the 405 parking lot. See my post under either "general C5" or "Z06" on this site regarding this subject.

I just checked my 04 and it also is missing these. My car had NEVER been test driven prior to me buying it, so I don't think a potential buyer stole them?

Probably some cost cutting measure. :willy:

Or maybe it weight reduction.

:iagree: They are damn hard to get in. I found one of my bumpers loose one day (the lower one) and had a bear of a time pressing it back in until I felt like it was seated.

Wet the end with some soapy water. It should slip in relatively easy and the dried soap will act as a bit of an adhesive.
