6 quart oil pan on ebay

What is a reasonable price for a 6 quart oil pan and pickup screen
One on ebay is up to $228.00.
I must be living in the dark ages!

bought NOS from Doc Rebuild several months ago for my 1963 Z06 restoration and I paid $325.00, so not unreasonable - had windage tray and everything like one on eBay

Sure glad my restoration days are over. Just saw a 63 chrome oil fill tube sell for 51.00$ on Ebay????? I have one that's correct for a 63,340HP,collecting dust in the garage. As i remember i picked it out of a parts box at the Corvette Expo in Knoxville Tenn. about 8-9 years ago, total cost 5.00$

Ben,
I got my 6qt oil pan, a pickup, a headlight mototr, tach cable, '67 Vette seatbelts (female end only), and a oil canister/bypass for $130. The oilpan needed some work to remove surface rust but there are no dents. This was about 4 months ago.

The reason that Pan is so high is because it is NOS (basically). These pans are very rare as I beleieve they were a Corvette only part in 1963 through 1965 and available over the counter to hot-rodders.

Here's how it looked when cleaned up. There is still some evidence of flaking but If I wanted it to be a showpiece I could have used some filler.

actually, if you are a SHP C2 owner and seeking the big pan (the 6 quart pan really holds 5 quarts itself, fyi) there are two pans that would fit your needs:

(1) GM #359942, which was the one in that ebay listing posted above, is a 1975 era replacement for the original GM #3820001 (that's #2). According to Joe Lucia, the 359942 is identical to the original except for the front oil pan seal radius, which cannot be discerned on the car. He says that if you get the 359942, you must use the 1975+ gasket set with this pan and NOT the 63-74 style gasket set. The only difference between the 2 is the front oil pan seal. It's .22" thick on the early gasket set and .41" thick on the 75+.

Joe, if you are reading this, thanks as always for being patient with me!

I THINK I have one of these pans that your talking about. It has some damage, i.e. someone cut out part of the windage tray and a small dent that was hammered out...not perfect. Dug it out of my collection of junk I've been hording for years. Is there any numbers on this pan and if so where?

I think I have the pan you are looking for. New, unpainted. Do not know the p/n. It was in some stuff i traded for.
The only thing i do not know is if it should have a hinged trap door in the baffle. I know the big block pans do but unsure about the small blocks.
can send pix if interested.
I am looking for a good set of front bumper brackets for a 65.
may be able to work out some kind of trade?
Dave

Yes, the small block pan has a hinged trap door in the baffle.

Here's another oil pan question: How does the pan from the ZZ4 crate engine compare to a 1987 305 IROC Camaro pan, capacity wise? I have the IROC pan in my '60, and was wondering if the ZZ4 engine has one more quart capacity.

Re: 6 quart oil pan on ebay (68 drop top)

The SHP or 6qt pans had the trap door but the 5qt base corvette pans DID NOT have a trap door. They do have some sort of baffle, but not a trap door. I learned the hard way :D
