17" Billet Rallye Wheels Installed

OK, I finally have the 17" billet rallye wheels and new BFG 255/50/17 installed on the car. Here's a few pics.

Placing these size tires on the car is a tight fit in the front when turning. They also rub slightly against the wheelwell on hard turns

They are also very close to the tierods on hard turns. These wheels have a 4 1/2" backspace opposed to the standard 4". This may call for spacers in the fromt.

A 255/45/17 tire would have fit better in the front. However, a 245/45/17 would have fit best, but I wanted the wider tire. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on the fronts. I also wish tire mfg's would sell raised white lettered, 17" tires.

Nonetheless, the car handles alot different. It feels smoother and more precise. Anybody who has gone from 15" to 17" knows what I mean. So far I am very pleased. :D

These are what I have picked out to go on my car. I was waiting until IO get further along to purchase them. They are the last thing I have to buy.

How about a good close up of the mounted wheel and tire showing a little fenderwell? I would appreciate it. Thanks Jim

As of now it is 29 1/2".

In the near future I would like to lower about 1 1/2" to 2"

Right on!

Yeah I was going to suggest, you may want to lower it in the future. :) Looks great.

Yep! that's it! Looks great.

Did you paint them or did Wheel Vintiques do the two tone for you?

I think this wheel really does a good job of allowing the C-3 Corvette to advance the handling and still retain the C-3 classic look. Thanks, Jim

Wheel Vintiques painted the centers. $50.00 a wheel

They did a great job and certainly better than messing around with them myself.

 that looks sweet. I like subtle changes like that. They look correct, but they're modern.

Re: 17" Billet Rallye Wheels Installed (Redshark6974)

Don't mind you asking at all. They set me back $1600 delivered to my door. This included the centers painted (powder coated) and new center caps.

They are from http://www.wheelvintiques.com/index.html. They are the only ones that I know of that mfg. billet rallye wheels.

I struggled with the price for a long time. but finally bit the billet (ha) and ordered them. It took about 10 days. They make them to order.

I looked at the Boyd Coddington Timeless series and the TT2's. Nothing wrong with either of these wheels. They are awesome looking on vettes and are very popular.

It just came down to maintaining an original look. So I got the best of both worlds - lightweight 17" rallye wheels/performance tires and the original look.
