I would like to revive this thread so that the previous discussion isn't lost.
I can't imagine why the Corvette C4 with the 4+3 transmission couldn't handle at least a 3,000 trailer. I have the C4 hitch and carry a set of track tires and wheels on a small platform with no problems. A trailer should be less tongue weight and the only challenge would then be pulling the trailer and stopping the trailer. Pulling should be no problem -- it is a 5.7L engine. Stopping could be more of a challenge but I don't think that it should be too bad, especially with upgraded pads. What am I missing? I would think that the challenge would be to drive the Corvette as if it were a 1/2 ton pickup pulling a significant trailer -- taking it slow and easy with lots of safety cushion all the time.
