Average cost to dyno tune a car.

I know not all cars are the same but what is the normal. I want to get my fuel pressure and timing all dialed in..

TIA
Rich

Ive seen them run from $30 for 3 runs to a couple hundred for a tuning session.

Depends how much fine tuning you really want to do. 4 of us doing our own PCM tuning rented a dyno for two 4 hour sessions. The total of 8 hours cost ~$250/person.

A typical price would be around $100 per hour. Some places will break it down and not make you pay for a full hour if you don't use it.

Around here dyno shops are around $100/hour + $25/hour for Wideband O2 if you want it. That is if YOU are doing the tuning. If you have them doing the work to your car there is another $60 or so an hour.

I bought my own wideband 02 meter for about $460 from techedge.com and I will tune for max power at the strip.

Found a local place to do mine with a wideband 02 with 3 pulls and tuning for $180.

Better be good to get it tuned in 3 pulls.

Ouch that seems high. You're going to get 1 baseline pull, 1 pull with changes to see how it likes it and a final one to either correct the mistake made in pull 2 or hope for a little bit better if 2's change worked.

What tuning would they do for 60/hr? Don't you just adjust your fuel pressure regulator until the A/F ratio is where you want it?

I wish it were that easy. Tuning is a science of which I wish I had experience in. The ECM PROM can be completely modified adjusting timing tables, fuel curves, and so much more it makes my head spin.

I was todl that they woudl usea Romulator, WB-O2 and chassis to do 90$ of the tune, then they would drive on teh street too.

Their web site says 2-3 hours avg., but they would not give me a $$$ limit, he said " its done when it's done"

I asked would $1000 do it and he said mayeb yes, maybe no!

So needless to say Ol'RJ has been burning the chips with the assistance of SKI, but I see a dyno run in the future 1-2 weeks.

$75 for 3 - pulls or $100 unlimited pulls in 1-hour.
