How to remove the rear license plate?

This may sound a bit stupid - but how do you remove the license plate from the rear of a C5? I have a new plate, but can't remove the old one [yes - i removed the usual screws that hold the plate]... the plates frame seems to be integrated into the backup lamp housing.

If you look closely at the inside of the frame on both sides, you'll see two slots. Get a small scredriver and insert it into the slots and gently push the tabs back and pull the frame away from the car.

let's go alittle easier on bazzer. he has only posted 7 times so my guess is he just bought the car and is trying to change the tag. granted this has been posted before and it is not tech or performance related but bazzer will learn the ropes very soon.

Welcome aboard BAZZER

It's not a stupid question. :nonod:

Plenty of us have had the same question -- myself included.

Welcome to the forum!

: agree: I'm almost 100% sure the owner’s manual covers that with pictures. But dam that is a newbe question. Welcome to the corvetteforum ask what ever question you have, and you will 99% of the time be about to get a awners and 100% of the time you will get poopie from us. No harm

Welcome to the Forum! :D This is a great place to hang around with folks who know and love the only sports car that matters!

Of course, they might be a little smart-aleck at times. :blueangel:

Just remember, when all else fails, read the directions: It's in the owner's manual.

Not a stupid question at all. The previous owner of my Vette (or more likely the dealer), broke the GM plate frame trying to remove it. Now I'm ordering another one cause I like the look. Welcome to CF!

The Owners Manual - yes I did look there firstl - but there was no specific mention on how to remove the tag. There was mention [and a picture of the plate/light] on how to replace the backup lights
