Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (1fastdog)
How tough woud a red tint to the carbon be to do...no Kevlar, just red tint carbon?
|
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (1fastdog)
I'll ask, but I know the red kevlar/carbon is very close to the Z06 red.
This is the black version being made for the Z16 Z06: The Black CF Fuel Rail Covers would have the Corvette name on the cover integrated like the Halltech logo. http://www.corvettec5.com/Tunnel_-Bridge_CF.jpg |
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (Jim Hall)
So Jim do you have a ballpark figure for the 1st 50 sets?
|
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (GaryZ06)
I will know Monday. We will probably do it, since we are going to make a carbon fiber TRAP for the Z06 Z16 package, it would be fitting to have carbon fuel rail covers to compliment the rest of the system. Too much CF is ugly in my opinion, but having a few major components in this exotic material is just right.
It looks like we will go ahead with the covers, depending on the pricing. I promise to make the first 50 sets, with just enough profit to pay for the molds only. Dividing the mold cost by 50 will keep the overall cost very sweet for the first 50 sets. Our Z16 CF TRAP system is ready for sale on our site. These are special order systems. http://www.corvettec5.com/Halltech_T...ridge_opti.jpg [Modified by Jim Hall, 9:14 PM 6/12/2003] |
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (vettezosix)
Jim, count me in! As soon as I see some kind of pic, I will most definetely order the red kevlar carbon fiber covers! :steering: Oh...one more thing...how will they look if I were to purchase a Red TRAP system...will they match?? |
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (Fast Lane)
 Are these fuel rail covers? If so then they would look great with my T1-C. Here is the quality: http://www.corvettec5.com/Halltech_T...ridge_opti.jpg |
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (Jim Hall)
Jim of the 1 st 50.....Will the Red kevlar be included and will Z06 be on them?
|
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (GaryZ06)
We are trying to do something special for the Red/Kevlar units, to match the Commemorative Logo, but we need GM licensing to do it. To make just our logo in carbon fiber costs $20.00 per copy.
This stuff is very expensive. |
Tunnel Ram Air Port
That is Stage 2, due to be released Monday. We are laying up the mold today and should have our first part out of the autoclave Monday morning. http://www.corvettec5.com/Tunnel-Ram-Air-Port.jpg It will be pure carbon fiber, five layer, with an entrance designed by our F1 airflow guru. He didn't like my design, so we paid him to make it right. He is responsible for all the induction ports on many of the F1 race cars, and does everything on the flowbench. This Tunnel Ram Air Port will still not be true ram air, since it will not have a capture box. Stage 3, will be Direct Ram Air, and will provide some additional benefits over Stage 2 in the quarter mile, with a capture box and minimal boost at high speed. It will be an upgrade to Stage 1 and Stage 2. Z06 Style Screens will stop little animals from getting into the system. The best part is it will feature "Hot Swap". Halltech Tunnel Ram Air Port off, stock Corvette Plate or license plate back on in less than 30 seconds. Stage 2 is not legal for sale in states with a front license plate law. Pictures next week. We also have a surprise later today. Stay tuned. [Modified by Jim Hall, 9:21 PM 6/12/2003] I am very interested. Please email or IM me once it's available and you know the price. Thanks. |
Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (03 Z06)
We could probably do that, but too many variations drives up the cost. You could clean them with paint thinner, and spray paint them easily, but the screens match the stock Z06 screens.
Most folks will want to paint the piece to match their car. The shop could also paint the grill. |
Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (Jim Hall)
 Are these fuel rail covers? If so then they would look great with my T1-C. Yes, Black will be first. Here is the quality: http://www.corvettec5.com/Halltech_T...ridge_opti.jpg |

Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (03 Z06)
We will do the covers. The first batch will be in black carbon fiber with the Corvette Logo integrated into the carbon as shown above.
The Red Kevlar material will have to be ordered, but we should be able to get them started early July. Hope to have a couple sets done for Nashville. Ours will sport the 50th Anniversary Logo. Pricing will be very fair. I will get pricing next week on the first 50 sets. After that we plan on making some profit. The forum gets the benefit of our endeavor for their help in the poll. Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (Jim Hall)
To bad we can't get the great pricing on the 1st 50 on the red ones.
|
Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (Jim Hall)
Jim,
Do some red as part of the 1st 50. I want red!!!!! |
Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (thetorch)
I think we will probably have 30 red kevlar, and 20 black cf on the first run.
I should have pictures of the red kevlar Monday. |
Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (Jim Hall)
How about some CF fuel rail covers too?
Also, on valve covers, consider making them a bit taller for aftermarket rocker arms... |
Re: Tunnel Ram Air Port (Jim Hall)
Damn, it's the "how-many-times-can-I-post-my-sig-in-one-thread" competition. :jester :hat :p:

Re: Z06 Carbon Fiber Valve Covers (Zeeman)
Our first Tunnel Port install is tomorrow. Going on our EB 2002 Z06.
I have started the molds for the carbon fiber beauty covers (fuel rail covers) and they should finish in two weeks, with our first prototype done in three. I will have the red pics then. Those parts are being done for another customer. Jim |
