153 or 168 tooth flexplate with mini starter and offset mounting bolt holes?? Need help

I'm changing the torque converter on my 81, so "while I'm at it" also the flexplate and starter. The starter that's on the car now has offset mounting bolt holes. When I was placing the order with Summit for a 153 tooth flexplate (which I thought all 350's had) the salesperson told me they didn't have any mini starters with offset mounting bolt holes that would work with a 153 tooth flexplate.

If I order a 168 tooth flexplate what problems/issues will using that flexplate cause, if any.

Measure across the flywheel.
14.1 for a 168
12.8 for a 153

914eener....

I have a 355 I am getting ready to install in my '74 and my 350 that I pulled had the 168 tooth pattern(original motor). I bought a new 168 tooth flexplate(the old one had a broken tooth) and have it mounted on the new engine with a CVR Protorque mini-starter. I will let you know that I am having a few problems with shimming it as the kit only came with 4 shims. CVR says 6 is no problem and I will be adding new ones this weekend to see if I can remedy the problem.
