Wow, narrow body, and A6! Totally girly!
Surely you don't think a narrow-body A6 is as girly as a vert? :hide: |
i bought my narrow body so people with zo6's a GS's could make fun of me:D

It used to be fun to violate #7 on Pike's Peak and then you get to violate #5 next, but only with a tight butt Vette. They paved the last 6 miles to the top since this pic, so now it's safe for the macho wide bodies after all the snow melts.

With my paper route and part time job at Taco Bell, I just couldn't swing the extra for the wide body...:crazy2:

You say, "Let's have a nice civil discussion, because this is not some kind of invitation to argue over which is better."
What a crock! You refer to them as girly narrow bodied, anorexic versions of real Corvettes and then want serious replies? Both bodies look great to me and having 22" of rubber back there seems enough to suit me. What an elitest query! |

Sure I remember!
Some were way over done, but some, like the C6 Grand Sport, looked perfect. |

When I bought my Corvette, I had a very specific budget in mind. Quite simply, the GS and Z06 didn't even come close to that figure, especially once you factor in all the extra expenses (wider, more expensive tires that wear more quickly, slightly poorer gas mileage, newer model year), it just didn't make economic sense. Perhaps if I wasn't a single dad with full custody, and had fewer responsibilities I could have justified spending more on what is essentially a weekend cruiser, a toy. Plus once you're moving into the wide body cars, finding one with the exact color and options you're seeking makes the search that much more frustrating. I'm perfectly happy with my slender body Z51 2LT M6 coupe.
The Z06, quite honestly, would have been my only consideration as the GS is essentially just a wide body coupe with almost none of the extra goodies that makes the Z06 as cool as it is. I liken the GS to the modders who slap wide body conversions on their coupe and buy a couple of badges to stick on the fenders. Kinda pointless in my humble opinion, and faking prestige is pretty lame (not speaking of the GS, just the fakers). If you think the looks are the cat's meow, that's fine by me, it's your car and your cash, but don't be faking a Z06 or ZR1-- that's an insult. :lolg:  |

Once the Grand Sport became available in 2010, I thought sales of the "Base", or narrow body Corvette, would have fallen to zero.
Yet, some folks continued to buy what looks like an anorexic version of a real Corvette, why? :confused2: That bad boy, big ass, wide tire look, of the Grand Sport made me say "yessss", the very first time I saw it. I thought it might be interesting to discuss why anyone would want to buy it's anemic looking little brother? Oh I know tires wear faster on a GS, and it cost a few grand more, but hey, Corvette buyers are a pretty affluent crowd. I wouldn't think that would make anyone go all girly, with a narrow body. So the question remains why? Let's have a nice civil discussion, because this is not some kind of invitation to argue over which is better. Go... ' |

Wide body is only way to go; that way when you crack the driver door you can flip the beer can under the back tire and crush it. Better for the environment, as the can collectors already have flat cans to put in the bag. Also, when you empty the ashtray you can crack the driver door and flip butts under the tire. The big tread sticks more butts to them and spaces them evenly along the road; not so messy :) (before the flame throwers come out - GET A SENSE OF HUMOR) :)

There's so much clowning around on a thread like this, that I'm not sure if you're serious or not???
Can you drive a base car through a car wash safely? I didn't think that was possible with any model 'vette. |
Road Noise
One good reason for a narrow butt is the lower road noise - it interferes with conversation when with my wife, and with the stereo if I am hooning by myself.

What if you had a vette before the GS?

How do you expect this thread to be civil, when the original poster is a *ss. I mean, when he starts the tread with "narrow body corvettes are not real corvettes".
Pretty arrogant. That was sarcasm  |
