well, I bought a 1LT A6 base new this past July. I was thinking about going with a GS, but then I would've wanted to get NPP, and 2LT, and.....and then I was gonna be spending ~$15-20k more than I did. I also knew that I would be modifying the car over the years that I would own it, and that I'd have to leave a $60k car stock for quite a while before I could justify spending any more money on it.

As it is, I've done headers, intake, exhaust, tune, trans cooler, new brake pads, and I'm finalizing my complete sound system overhaul this weekend. I'm planning on essentially upgrading the car to a GS with ZR1 level power over the next 2-5 years; might cost me more in the long run to approach it this way, but I preferred to buy my car outright than take out a note on a more expensive "loaded" car and have it hanging over my head for years.

This wasn't motivation to buy a narrow body, but the sleeper look is probably motivation for some.

I still like skinny better than fat!

Tough as it may be for some people to understand, there are actually some folks who prefer the looks of the "narrow body" over that of the Grand Sport. There are also those for whom cost is an issue. It all seems quite simple to me.

The GS was not available when I bought my 07 exactly the way I wanted it from the factory. I still have it 91k miles later and still love to drive it. If the GS had been available in 07 I definitely would have paid extra for it.

I have thought about trading up but would hate to see mine go plus I don't want to spend any money...

Sorry to break this to the OP, but, the average person wouldn't know the difference between the GS and the coupe if they were side by side. For us that can, coupe v. wide body is just a matter of taste, needs and finances.

:lolg:

Psssst....just in case some folks missed it the first time.

This thread is totally in jest.

Want to go wide, go Z06. The GS is a knock-off. Personally don't like the double gills.

I wonder why race horses are not fat. :D

Glad I read this post before I responded.

Wow, there's a lot of jealous narrow body owners here.

EvanZR1 04-17-2014 03:09 PM

Why would you buy a narrow body? Because you can drive it through a car wash!

Seriously though, that actually is a reason to do a narrow body, as well as tires being less expensive and the car being less expensive.

I found it interesting when I was in Southern California on vacation last month the number of narrow body vettes far out weighed the GS/Z06/ZR1 body.
I look at the narrow bodies kinda like little red riding hood and wide bodies kinda like the big bad wolf>>>>

:crazy::crazy: WHOA!!

There's so much clowning around on a thread like this, that I'm not sure if you're serious or not???

Can you drive a base car through a car wash safely?

I didn't think that was possible with any model 'vette.

[QUOTE=Hameister;1586681885]Wow, narrow body, and A6! Totally girly!

Surely you don't think a narrow-body A6 is as girly as a vert? :hide:

MPA 04-17-2014 03:16 PM

 They just can't help taking the bait

All the models carry the same amount of groceries, so there's really no difference at all.

Hey Ham, Your old enough to remember guys gluing on flairs and cutting wheel wells back in the '60s only to have those same Vettes patched back to original years later. To me the GS looks like the hacked up '60s with a pair of ears glued on. The base C6 looks so much cleaner. Just from an old timer that remembers.:woohoo:

Sure I remember!
Some were way over done, but some, like the C6 Grand Sport, looked perfect.

To each his own.

I chose narrow body for a few reasons. One being the tranny gearing.
