What the F***?????

What's with all the pop-ups and redirects lately on the forum?!?!?!?!? I can't even scroll or control what I am trying to look at!!!

I'm not getting them on any other site, so I must assume that it is originating here!!!!!

Anyone else having this problem??????

I am thinking it is DSTURBD-ing, No pun intended...lol
With all the re-directs all it does is slow down your enjoyment..

DSTURBD 03-29-2014 11:42 PM

Yeah, with every mouse-click I get another round of pop-ups, redirects, and "long running script" events!!!!!!

As a ten year + member, I hate to say this but it's true; this will drive me away in very short order!!!! Not gonna put up with it!!!

I hear ya Bill and that is sad beyond words!!!!! I am a Business teacher and I can't even think how I would present or justify this strategy to a class of students given that we talk about product quality, service quality, integrity of business models, etc., etc.

There must be a setting you can use. I'm not getting any pop ups at all on the forum.

olbear1962 03-30-2014 12:33 AM

Guys I am not getting any pop ups, never have?

megawatt1203 03-30-2014 12:36 AM

No pop-ups here.

Chilliwack vettes 03-30-2014 12:50 AM

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago on here and other sites. Did a system restore on my computer and its been fine since. Can't say for sure but IIRC the problem developed after a Windows update.

Vetteman Jack 03-30-2014 01:02 AM

Not getting any pop-ups and redirects here and hope it stays that way.

JrRifleCoach 03-30-2014 02:17 AM

Use the ADBLOCK add-in for Firefox or Chrome.
Now you are in control!

IN a another few weeks, the whole house will be Mac! Ever since win 8 came out, I have installed win 7 on many of a friends computer. So done with Windows...Except for work of course.

dmarkshark 03-30-2014 08:06 AM

When this happens to me, I usually restore my computer back to a earlier set-up date and it fixes it. (Windows 7 - go to maintenance)

dadaroo 03-30-2014 09:01 AM

I get zero pop ups or redirects. That applies to my desktop which I use in the morning and the laptop I use in the afternoon. Good things happen to good people I guess. :woohoo:

Jeff T. 03-30-2014 09:27 AM

I use something called AdBlock... Started as several other forums got a little crazy.

Mike94ZLT1 03-30-2014 10:12 AM

Adblock and then download and run Malwarebytes. I have no pop ups or redirects, or really any ads for that matter.

Bobd207s 03-30-2014 10:20 AM

Both of these softwares are free on the net - just google them - should get rid of all the popups , etc

Camjamsdad 03-30-2014 10:28 AM

Been an Adblock plus user for years. No ads, pop ups, and wipes out everything to the left of the screen which slowed everything way down. I think most of it is browser behavior. Internet explorer is bad but you can set some pop up blocking. I use chrome mostly, with Firefox as a backup.

I agree windows 8 blows

mark03c5 03-30-2014 10:44 AM

None here

bj1k 03-30-2014 10:53 AM

No problems here but when I signed up for Google Chrome it brought in a lot of those problems. No problems since I got rid of it.

jdvann 03-30-2014 11:37 AM

No issue here...using Chrome and Win 7. I only encounter issues if I am at work where I can't log in...

A recent Windows update did cause stability issues for a good number of Windows 7 users. There was a problem with with one of the updated files that affected the display features and could crash the hard drive as a result of corrupted operating system files. My laptop crashed because of it and it took me 15 hours to recover my important files, repair the damage, and bring it back from the dead.

As far as the pop-ups everyone is complaining about, I haven't seen them at all, and although I use Firefox for my browser I have adblock turned off for this site. The only thing I have active is my pop-up blocker.

Oldvetter 03-30-2014 11:55 AM

Usually on my ipad, and I get no pop ups once logged in.

DSTURBD 03-30-2014 12:49 PM

That's good news! I don't want to see any of the long time knowledgable members leave because of ads and popups, or any other computer related problems, I need you folks around! i use an iPad and a Mac and have had no problems, lately anyway. Awhile back there was a small issue with a Michelin ad that popped out from the side of the forum, but haven't seen it for some time. :)

In the Firefox browser with Adblock Plus installed, just click on the Adblock icon on the toolbar and you will see an option to "Disable on anywebsite.com" Just click on that and it will be turned off for whichever Website you are on, and it will include every page of that Website. You can also disable it for a single page with the "Disable for this page only" option that is on the same toolbar icon.

momo20 03-30-2014 01:58 PM
