Looks like those cars are TOAST.

Navybluevette 02-12-2014 10:43 AM

Did they build that place on a land fill..........................

That's no good at all. Hopefully they can get those out of there in one piece and fix them.

Could be a buying opportunity when the caravan gets out there in August. :hide:

Looks like many of them were on LOAN:

I'll take the salvaged 2001 Mallet Hammer Z06, thanks.

What are the odds of this happening right there under the dome? I wonder if this was prep/construction related or a random sink hole similar to those events in Florida.

257 sinkholes have been reported within 1 mile of museum. http://www.plotscan.com/

Interesting map-post.
So will the "barn find" nomenclature be replaced to some degree by "sink hole find". Actually, the reason I bought a 'vette (vs. a BMW, Porsche, etc.) is that I didn't think the repair and maintenance costs would be a dark hole.
Who knew?

That is a real shame, but I guess I'll go ahead and be the first to ask....

How much for the seats in either one of the white ones or the '09 ZR1? :hide:

The real worry here is the finding from this point. I hope to hell they can deem the site stable, otherwise the real disaster is yet to come. I go to the museum for the bash every year, among other times, and this is going to be a real bad situation if ground penetrating radar shows big voids remaining. I hope the museum had sink hole insurance, because homeowner/basic structural policies don't cover things like this. You'd think it's a given, but these areas of Ky, FL, AZ...obtaining sink hole insurance has become increasingly difficult.

I'm real upset right now...this is no laughing matter.

Keep it in perspective.

Camjamsdad 02-12-2014 01:21 PM

Wonder who insures them?

Corvette Museum Damage

The news from the Corvette museum is not good. Sinkhole damage is quite unbelievable. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...-sinkhole.html

TraceZ 02-12-2014 01:27 PM

The museum said the cars are:

1993 ZR-1 Spyder
2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil"
1962 Black Corvette
1984 PPG Pace Car
1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary
2001 Mallett Hammer Z06
2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette

RIP
