C6 Starter Motor on a C5?

Has anyone tried a C6 starter (LS2/LS3/LS7 all seem to be the same) on an LS1/LS6 C5? I am looking for the best starter to replace mine; I want one with two long bolts, which the C6 starter has, and the C6 starter also appears to be smaller and lighter with the same 1.7kW rating.

Based only on looking at pictures and specs online, it looks like it should work. Has anyone tried it? I searched but couldn't find a report from anyone who has done this before.

Well, I guess I'll be the guinea pig then.

I'm just curious why, less $$?

Here's why I want the starter with two long bolts vs. the original design: http://ls1tech.com/forums/15262243-post108.html

I like the C6 design because it's smaller and lighter but has the same 1.7kW power rating. I'm an engineer, optimization is an obsession...

Ok, here is a picture of a AC Delco starter for a 1999 Corvette (I got from Rock Auto)

This one, I chose a 2010 Corvette with LS3

Maybe it will work, looks stronger from that extra metal.

Your starter go bad?

I'm curious if the starters are the same on the trucks/SUV engines as the Corvette.
