No I think the LT4 is going to hold together just fine, it's the LS7's that are prone to blowing. People are also reporting excessive valve guide wear in the LS9, I'm glad the LS days are over.

High center of gravity. High weight. Heat soak monster - are they going to use liquid:air intercooler? Why not just go with turbos? Too easy?

I thought about the heat soak issue...maybe DI works better to cool the charge than you think it does...as far as center of gravity and weight...i dont see it being that much of a con vs the power youll make.

I would hope in the spirit of the z06 tradition, we are gonna be looking at 605hp.

However to prevent eclipsing the base model it will probably be in the 550hp range.

550 would be lame. Gotta crack 600 at least.

He simply did not say this. Stop spreading this rumor.

That said it seems like they would have to pretty severely sabatoge the LT4 to get fewer than 600 hp.

Well like everyone except those in the know, we ourselves don't knw if any of it was true but it does hold credence if u believe there will be a ZR1 this generation. Baby LT1(Stingray), upset little sister (Z06), big brother (ZR1).

I don't know about you but I like that family right there. Lol

Hirohawa 12-06-2013 03:53 PM

I know it seems less likely now, but I really hope that is a teaser of the ZR1 engine and the Z06 remains NA.

If the Z06 comes in heavier than the Base C7 that is really going to be a disappointment to many including me.

Still find it crazy there may not be an NA car.

We know a lot of what he said was not true. The claims he made about the "un-crackable" ECU using encryption methods was totally false. We know the "self tuning" was totally false. Nothing he predicted that wasn't already common knowledge or a pretty obvious conclusion based on what we knew already came to be true.

I'm not disagreeing with the engine setup possibilities you mention, just pointing out that anything Bigg Gunz said is not credible.

I'll be disappointed as well but if they are going w/ an S/C/intercooler setup I don't see how they will offset that extra weight without going cost prohibitively exotic. Maybe if they do a Z/28 style track stipper model...

midnightbluS10 12-06-2013 04:46 PM

Why not just consider that there may not be a ZR1? Is it really that hard to swallow?

Ok, so it's not just me I see.

In that case I'd want the 675hp lt4 to be true!

genv6.2gm 12-06-2013 06:27 PM

i still cant believe its not gonna be turbos

You can always hold out hope for the ZR1...

In the meantime, the top mounted centri S/C is one of the wildest OEM FI solutions I've seen in awhile. That is too cool. Should make power out to redline just like everyone likes. The car is gonna be a monster. :yesnod:

Gotcha, yeah that did sound a bit shady that the ECU was un-crackable. The only thing that drew by attention was the 3 variants he mentioned

"Little Sister", could that be the rumored lower cost C7 with the 5.3 that was rumored for awhile?

Dave02C5 12-07-2013 09:11 AM

they won't put out a Z06 that will surpass the '13 ZR1's 638hp.. that would totally screw the guys that just put out 120k for the fastest last year. my guess is 605hp like DRM87 said, to keep the 405 - 505 - 605 tradition. :D

Don't be so sure on that.

1st off there is the possibility of different or better blade design.

2nd if this does end up having an electric motor, that will REALLY open up some options.

3rd....if they can put one big one in the middle, why can someone put 2 smaller ones there?

Rarely does a new innovation start with it's own end.
