Ox....Steamroller's are back in!

Silver05GTO 12-04-2013 01:56 PM

Screw the 7.0, anyone who's ventured into the C6Z forums knows those engines are ticking time bombs....it was a nice trip down memory lane to have a 427 back but it hasn't been reliable, its time has past. I say this as a former C6Z owner who worried if each trip would be the last before catastrophic engine failure. Sucked part of the fun out of ownership.....and mounting claims of 2013's kicking the bucket proves GM never figured out what the heck is going on with the LS7.
Bring on a forced induction Z06 with 600 plus reliable HP and the masses will be thrilled.

Was there ever any doubt? Only the C7 haters found issues with this or that. The C7 Z06 will bring all those on the fence over permanently to the C7 side.....the bragging rights folks were just waiting for this shoe to drop. Now the new C7 lineup has its beast.

I would think if GM's representation of the C7Z being the most track capable Corvette ever is true, then folks will be quite thrilled.

Not sure I buy into this as the Z-28 will have the LS7. GM cant be this dumb to have not fixed the issues.

I will ENJOY

My new Z51 all year and then late next year sell it and get the new BEAST... SOOO excited for the official reveal! I posted back in April when engineers at the bash CONFIRMED off the record that they already had the wider tires that would not fit the base z51 model, and that it would be revealed THIS coming Jan. Many doubted, where are they now, lol. I for one am glad to have my new z51 NOW, and that I will enjoy it for a FULL year, then sell it, BRING ON THE BEAST...

Next prediction STARTING MSRP 78,000 loaded up 98k

(wish it was less but here you go)

for the 650 hp beast this will be with carbon ceramic brakes, and much much more, this will be a BARGIN compared to its competition which it will destroy BTW. Probably to much to hope for, but can you imagine a state of the art auto trans as an option on this beast? I prefer to row the gears but I know the auto will be faster if offered, interesting to see what they do in that regard...

Will this make it easier to get by Z51 order picked up by GM?

OHV4LIFE 12-04-2013 02:20 PM

The timing is a little suspicious. I wonder if Chevy is trying to steal some thunder from the 2015 Mustang, which will be revealed tonight (and has already been leaked)

Ford: Now introducing the 2015 Must...

Crowd: Look everyone, the Z06 teaser is out!!

That's exactly what they're doing.

Not so sure...Reuss implied in the video that the 7.0L would transition from wixom to standard engine facility. It will become a mass produced engine like the rest of the LS/LT. At present, the 7.0L is only in the Camaro. It would not make sense to add an engine line just for the new Z28. So I think GM has continuing and other intentions for the 7.0L. We'll know soon...

Edit - I'm not suggesting there is no LT4 - clearly that is coming, but I think it will be reserved for the ZR1, which I am sure they are bringing back. And it will be one hell of a monster.

You're right on sam.....that was just another failed attempt at a troll post by a bitter former Z06 owner.

ChucksZ06 12-04-2013 02:23 PM

I am also glad they kept z06 name. I can keep my name the same. Ha. GM is definitely on a roll with great new products.

I hope you didn't think they'd gone away...I didn't. I still think it's pretty incredible the performance they have gotten out of the new "narrow" Michelins.

HolyRoller 12-04-2013 02:30 PM

If there's a convertible version, then this will be my car for as long as we both shall live. <3

Hmmm... my take was they were using up the last LS7s by stuffing them in the Z28. It would be odd to have the hi-po C7 lack some of the major improvements of the new LT motor.

My take is Z06 gets the LT4 and that's it for a bit. Then, a few years into the C7, they come out with a super vette called the L88 with a twin-turbo.

Give me a 8.0+ all motor 7-8k rpm!

They're following the same pattern they have in the past with Corvettes and Camaros: A "special" Camaro gets one of the high-perf engines from the previous model Corvette for a year, maybe 2. I've no doubt that they'll just use up the LS7s and that'll be that for the Z/28 in its current form.

But that's more a discussion for "Other Cars" or the Camaro forum. :)

Yes, the C7 is impressive on 285's. I did not think it would be but I was wrong.

I'm very excited about this 2015 Z06...hopefully that means a lot more of the lightly used 2014 Z51's will be out there for sale!
